There are a number of reasons for this ride. The main one was my need to get fit and cycling seemed the best way. Land's End to John o'Groats was  an obvious target, but living in the West Country and loving Scotland made it all the more attractive.

As for choosing a charity, I've been involved in fundraising in the past for the Teenage Cancer Trust with my band the Joyce Gang and already know something about the invaluable work they do. It's a national charity and the money raised goes straight into care facilities. As a music teacher I work day in day out with teenagers and I can tell you that they are more sensible, self-motivated, open-minded, creative and funny than much of the popular press would have us believe. It's a pleasure to fundraise for a charity that supports their needs.
